Infrastructure in Malaysia

Today Putra Light Rail Transit (LRT) had technical problem again. I was sleeping not long after I boarded the train. Then, someone accidentally kicked my leg. I woke up. I was at Pasar Seni station. I slept back. After some time, I woke up by an SMS. I looked outside to check the train had reached which station. To my surprise, it was still at Pasar Seni station =.="

This is the condition of the infrastruture in Malaysia. Several times of breakdowns in a week. Moreover, there are so many types of trains such as Kereta Api Tanah Melayu (KTM), Star LRT, Putra LRT, Monorail and Express Rail Link (ERL). It is so troublesome to go from one place to another. One may have to walk, change buses or change from one train to another in order to reach a destination.

KTM is the most congested train. It is also the slowest train if compared to others. There are so many foreign labours who take this train. The seats of the train are limited. Passengers have to stand when all the seats are occupied. In addition, most of the time, the train does not come on time. This causes a problem to local people who have to use this train daily. They have to squeeze themselves into the train when there are too many people waiting to board the train. In my opinion, most of the people, who are waiting to board the train, will feel frustrated after waiting for a period of time but still cannot get into the train. They also have to endure the odour that comes from people who are sweating.

Star and Putra LRT had been taken over by the RapidKL company. The RapidKL had taken initiative to upgrade the Putra LRT service. They just bought a few new trains that have two more coaches than the old trains. Nevertheless, this does not help much. It is obvious that the train is not as congested as before but there are still a lot of passengers who need to stand. The frequency of these new trains is quite low.

There will be a lot of people taking trains when it is raining. All the trains will be full of people. Sometimes, one cannot get into a train even he or she has been waiting for quite some time. Everyone inside the trains is just like the sardine between two bread. The trains will be like the sandwiches. Everywhere will also be traffic jams due to accidents, vehicle breakdowns and conditions of the roads.

The structure of the roads in Malaysia is also so unstructured. It is confusing and it is such a mess. While travelling, one can notice that there are a lot of roads from three-ways become two-ways and even one-way
